Freakshow aims to stand out from your typical carnival sideshow. Breaking the convention of industry expectations, the design language for Freakshow synergizes a clean, enduring aesthetic, with delightful imagery, playful colors, and energetic typography. Brand keywords are clean, eerie and fun.
Define and develop a visual guideline for Freakshow's online and physical media. Create examples of brand assets that follow the design system established in order to serve as a proof of concept. Deliver branding guidelines, including color palettes, typography, logos, and signage.
Freakshow's prospective competitors, such as other carnival sideshows, circuses, and performance acts, were researched in-depth. This deep-dive allowed for better understanding of the industry, promoting iteration in a way that spoke to the user base, while clarifying a distinct point of difference.
Final deliverables were created in the form of a robust brand kit, signage guidelines, and sample mockups in the form of interactive web design experiences. Through these design assets a visual identity and brand voice were developed with room for growth.
The branding kit included letterheads, envelopes, business cards, employee ID badges, folders, and more. Rationale behind the design was to represent the company’s philosophy and values of clean, eerie, and fun, through linear colored bars, playful typography, and duo-tone photography.
The signage was designed to inform the user of talent performing at the sideshow. The aesthetic was established through the use of striking photography, enticing typography, and suggestive captioning. They were made to be playfully eye catching to draw in readers.
Serving as a guide, rather than a full site design, a system of UI components was developed. Examples of a homepage, event blog, ticket interaction, contact page, order confirmation page, and site menu were mocked up to give context to the design structure.
