The Client

Ocha

Ocha is creating Japanese inspired luxury tea items. They aim to provide an elevated B2C experience for their products, seeking to deliver tea that is high in quality and fair in price. They desire to orchestrate a brand that is both high-end and accessible to a wide audience.

Step 1

Objective

Define and develop a visual guideline for Ocha's online and physical media. Create examples of brand assets that follow the design system established in order to serve as a proof of concept. Deliver branding guidelines, including color palettes, typography, logos, and packaging.

Step 2

Process

Ocha's prospective competitors, such as other tea producers and food and beverage brands were researched. The research allowed for better understanding of the aesthetic of the industry. With that information in hand the logo and overall brand approach became more clearly apparent.

Step 3

Solution

Final deliverables were created in the form of a robust brand kit, packaging guidelines, and sample mockups in the form of interactive web design experiences. Through these design assets a visual identity and brand voice was developed with room for expansion over time.

Brand Kit

The branding kit included letterheads, envelopes, business cards, and more. The use of color is Ocha’s muted, natural palette, as well as gold flourishes to call to the eclectic spirit of the brand. Iconography was kept simple to allow for ease of legibility, and typography was treated similarly.

Packaging

The packaging was designed to inform the user of the type of product within. Color coordination was used to visually explain the type of tea in the canister. The aesthetic was established through the use of clean, easily digestible layouts that guide the consumers eye accordingly.

UI Design

Serving as a guide, rather than a full site design, a system of UI components was developed. Examples of a homepage, product pages, shopping cart, chat interaction, order confirmation page, and site menu were mocked up to give context to the design structure.
